This is a problem it shares with the Air-lock and Thingamabobber, although due to its lightness, I find it to be less problematic with the CorQs compared to the competition. No strike indicator is perfect, and the CorQs does have a slight issue with being off-center, causing some turbulence during the cast. It is certainly easier than tying and untying a knot, although not as user-friendly as the screw-mount methods used by the Oros or airflow indicators.īefore discussing the cons, it’s worth noting that the CorQs is a single piece, eliminating the risk of losing small screws or nuts while on the river. To remove the CorQs, simply create some slack in the line and reverse the procedure. Installing the CorQs is a simple process: push a loop of line through the rubber o-ring, up and over the ball, and then tighten the line. This feature is likely to spook fewer fish, making it an advantage over other options. From below, it appears like a piece of wood floating downstream. Unlike plastic indicators, the bottom half of the CorQs is exposed cork, which almost always floats facing downwards. However, I doubt anyone will struggle to see them on the water. The painted top of the CorQs is highly visible, although it may not be as vivid as some foam indicators. When compared to other ball indicators, they are only surpassed in castability by the Oros. They claim their cork is even more buoyant than synthetic indicators, although in my experience, both materials float equally well.Īdditionally, due to their lightweight nature, CorQ indicators are incredibly easy to cast, almost as effortless as yarn indicators. Firstly, a good indicator must be buoyant, and the CorQs performs exceptionally well in this aspect. It’s unfortunate because I hold them in high regard, although they can be challenging to find in stores.ĬorQs indicators are excellent examples of environmentally friendly strike indicators. The CorQs indicator somehow escaped my memory when I first wrote my round-up of indicators.
